What do you have to do to go to heaven?

A  Admit – Admit to God that you are a sinner. Unless you are perfect, you cannot get to heaven on your own merit.

Jesus said, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” Matthew 5:48

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23

Another place the Bible talks about it being a gift is in this verse:

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2: 8-9

What do you have to do to accept the gift?

B Believe – Believe Jesus is God’s Son, that he died on the cross to pay for your sins, and that he was raised from the dead on the third day.  We must be willing to accept God’s gift of eternal life.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

“Nor is there salvation in any other: for there is no other name under heaven given among men,  by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

“You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!” James 2:19

It is not enough just to believe in Jesus with your head, you must let Him be the Lord of your life and give Him your heart.

C Choose and Confess – Surrender to God to let Him be in charge of every part of your life.  When you ask Jesus into your heart, you are saying you are willing to follow Him and obey God’s Word, the Bible. Will you choose to confess your sins and ask Jesus Christ to forgive you and be your Savior and Lord?

“For whoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” I John 1: 9

If you sincerely pray this prayer of salvation, you will go to heaven.

Dear God, I know I am not perfect, and that I have sinned. Please forgive me of my sins. I know I cannot get into heaven on my own efforts. Thank you for sending your Son, Jesus, to die on the cross to pay the price for my sin, and to make it possible for me to go to heaven. I believe He was raised from the dead on the third day. Come into my heart, and save me. I receive you as my Lord and Savior. Take me to heaven some day when I die. I want you to be in charge of every area of my life. Help me to live for you because you died for me. Amen
